What a change the sun and some blue sky makes.
After a few days of cold winds, grey skies and rain, today has weather to make you want to ride (a pity I've got to work - call this work?).
AFter last weekend's event and a Tandem Club ride this weekend I decided I would take it easy today. SO I had a lift into Birmingham and rode the Moulton in.
Traffic was whizzing around, there didn't appear to be as much traffic as normal (maybe the blocked M6 at Spaghetti junction was responsible) so it was easier for vehicles to move faster.
The Moulton is an interesting bike to ride, it copes with poor urban roads very well and because of its small wheels accelerates easily too. I do wonder though if car drivers react to the bike and give me less room, particularly when overtaking. It's quite an interesting but disturbing effect because otherwise nothing's different - same clothes that I ride a 'normal' bike in.
Think I'll try to take a more scenic route home, this weather is too god to miss.

First day back after the Easter break.
Yesterday I rode the Shenstone-Castleton-Shenstone 217km Audax event. It started wet, became colder and I grovelled most of the way around - good ride otherwise!
This morning was bright and sunny (typical back-to-work day really) but I felt too tired to ride over the Wasley Hills this morning so had a lift to Frankley and then rode in. I decided to take the Moulton (AM7) it's the first time I've ridden it properly for some time since I gave the front suspension a full overhaul - still some work needs to be done - as ever.
A Brompton rider was in front so I made some effort to catch him but he was making good speed - or was I just suffering the effects of yesterday? eventually caught him as he turned off my route near Stirchley.
I suspect the return journey is going to be slower as I had a tail wind this morning but at least the Moulton has low gears. Its main advantage is its suspension so a nice smooth ride in spite of the poor road surfaces.
